A baby quilt for someone special!
Many of you have heard our news! My fourth grandchild (and Sara’s fourth in the niece/nephew brood) was born recently. James “William” came into this world at 8 pounds and 6 ounces and was 21-3/4″ long. I know all grandmothers say this, but he is the sweetest ever! His Mom, my daughter-in-law Maggie, has a very classic style of decorating and his nursery has gorgeous grown-up furniture that he will be able to keep his entire life — except for the crib, of course. The colors are mostly navy and white with some primary color accents.

When his sister, Emily, was born I stepped outside my comfort zone with a bear quilt with applique’. It turned out pretty nice, but was truly beyond my skill level, even with the step by step instructions of a pattern. This is what I used.
I went a little simpler for William and this quilt is one anyone with advanced beginner sewing skills can make. No quilting experience needed. I used this Simplicity Pattern and it has several other nursery decor items you could make and coordinate.
I used the primary nursery colors, with the blue being navy.

Congratulations on the birth of William! Love the quilt you made for him. The colors and pattern are adorable!
Aw, thanks, Cindy! I hope he’ll enjoy “tummy time” on his quilt.
Wow what a coincidence my daughter is expecting, this would be a great project.
Thanks
Maria
I saw that on the “gender announcement” party post! Congratulations to you too! First one?
Congratulations on the birth of William! This quilt is adorable and I love that it can be made by quilters and non-quilters alike. I adore the fabric that you chose!
Aw, thanks Jeanie!
Congratulations on the new baby. I remember having a handmade quilt for each of my boys. It was a gift I could not wait to receive. I am certain it will be treasured
Thank you, Leanna. We are pretty excited!
It is so nice when you can make a gift for a loved one especially a gift as nice as this. It will be used for a long time and they will remember that it was made with grandma love.
Congratulations on your newest little one! I might actually be able to make this quilt. My sewing skills are pretty limited to straight lines.
You can do it! If I did it, you can.
This is a wonderful project!!….and congratulations!
Thank you! We are pretty excited about our new little guy!
