HELP! I’m looking for ideas and suggestions on what to do with this mirror. I know it’s kind of funky, but it was one of those pieces in the consignment store that said “Buy Me! Buy Me!” and so I did.
I thought maybe I could use it in the powder room at the new house, but I’m at a loss as to what to do with it. I know there are lots of you out there with great ideas. You can probably just take one look and think “I know what I would do………….” Bring on the thoughts.
I’ll make the project itself a post, so I’m hoping for something fun that I can share when it’s done.
A little information on the setting: I’m thinking over the pedestal sink in the powder room. It will be a white, rectangular sink, like this…
The fixtures will be oil rubbed bronze, the floors hardwood in a medium tone (Minwax Provincial on oak if you’re familiar). The walls greige-ish.
I was wondering about doing something with a little metallic highlighting, or pearlescent, but that’s about as far as my creative thinking has taken me.
Any thoughts/ideas are appreciated. Even if you want to say “that’s the ugliest thing I ever saw — dumb idea”. Well, you could soften that blow a little, I guess.
Hi,
You could spray it in a glossy white to match the pedestal sink. The texture on the frame would still be visible and would be a nice contrast to the flat grey walls.
Looking forward to seeing what you do ????
Thanks! I like that idea. I knew getting some creative minds going would be helpful.
Pretty cool as is but I’m really in to decoupage right now. You could do anything … Cool fabric strips, music sheets, botanicals .. The world is your oyster !
Oysters? Now, there’s a thought. I haven’t decopaged anything since middle school. Maybe I’ll do a little research. It’s probably changed since the days of Monkee’s faces on the container for our juice can hair rollers!
Ps. If you decoupage you will need to prime! 🙂
Hey, check out Pinterest, I just checked and lots of ideas when you type painting mirrors….I was thinking a splash of color…saw a beautiful one on Pinterest that she spray painted Aqua, then some splash of lime green then on top of that a brown gel stain…wiped off stain looks beautiful. Sounds strange but turned out beautiful. I will post on Facebook for you. Pinterest…secondchancesbysusan.blogspot.com
I saw that one Sandy, and it is cool! So many awesome ideas and just one mirror.
What about finding some interesting crown molding, putting some liquid nail on the back to adhere to existing frame and lay it flat on the frame. Make a mitre cut on the crown molding to make the pieces seal together and paint to match whatever.
