Skillet Focaccia Bread with herbs and Parmesan is fragrant and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside.  It’s easy enough for a first-time bread baker.

INGREDIENTS: Sugar Water Yeast Olive Oil Flour Salt Italian Seasoning Parmesan Cheese

STEP 1

Dissolve sugar in warm water. Add yeast and stir to dissolve. Let sit 3-4 minutes.

STEP 2

Add flour, salt, oil, seasoning and some of the parmesan.  Mix by hand or with dough hook of stand mixer until blended.

STEP 3

Continue mixing with dough hook or knead by hand on a floured surface.

STEP 5

Pat dough into a cast iron skillet that has been coated with olive oil.

STEP 6

Heat oven to 175 degrees and then turn off. Place skillet in oven for 20 minutes.

STEP 7

Remove from oven and preheat to 400 degrees. Brush with oil, make indentations with fingertips and sprinkle with parmesan and herbs.
