This recipe is for a traditional, smoked half ham that is pre-cooked. It is NOT for a spiral sliced ham.

TIP NO. 1

Cut slits into the ham with a sharp knife.  This allows the smoke flavor to penetrate.

Use fruit and fruit juice in your smoker for lots of flavor.  You can use apples, oranges or any other kind of fruit.

Use wood chips that produce a fragrant smoke. Apple wood, but so is hickory, pecan, maple and cherry wood.
