Our citrus salad dressing is a light citrus vinaigrette that brightens up the flavors of any salad or fresh vegetable.

I love making homemade salad dressing because you know exactly what is going in it and can be sure to use the freshest, most high-quality ingredients.
This salad dressing is so easy to make and is full of bright orange and lemon flavors that go great with just about any salad.
The Backstory
We originally created this dressing for our Marinated Asparagus Salad. In that recipe we use it both as the marinade for the asparagus and the dressing for the whole salad.
Since then, it's become my go-to citrus vinaigrette that I use on every salad when I want to give it a fresh, summery flavor.
Ingredients in Citrus Salad Dressing
- Olive oil
- White wine vinegar
- Lemon juice
- Orange juice
- Dijon mustard
- Lemon zest
- Honey
See recipe card for quantities.
How to make it
Combine all the ingredients in a mason jar or another container with a tightly fitting lid and give it a good shake. Once the dijon and honey have been incorporated, it is ready to be served!
Of course, if you can make it an hour or two ahead, the flavors will have time to meld together. This is true with many recipes for sauces, marinades, etc.
Equipment you may need
I can only think of 2 items that you may need for making this dressing. The first is a mason jar, which you should really have around the house anyway because they're super handy!
The other is a good zester. We love our zester and use it all the time!

Storage
This citrus salad dressing (and really any homemade vinaigrette) will keep in the fridge in an airtight container for 1-2 weeks, so it's easy to make ahead of time and well worth the 5 minutes it takes to mix it up.
It may solidify a bit from being cold, but just 20-30 minutes or so of sitting out on the counter will fix that!
What salad will go with a citrus vinaigrette?
I'm going to be honest- this dressing will go well on absolutely any salad.
That said, we love it on our Marinated Asparagus Salad. It would also be great on Clementine Salad, Melon & Prosciutto Salad, and Salad with Blackberry and Peaches.
If you're looking for something a little different, our Dill Pickle Ranch is always a hit!
