This is one of our favorite meals to make around my house and I love it because it's so easy! The star of the Greek Chicken Bowls is, of course, the chicken! I make this in my air fryer using the techniques from my Air Fryer Greek Lemon Chicken and it turns out full of flavor and super moist.
For the base of the bowl, you can use whatever you like- the carb lovers in my family like to use white rice on the bottom, but I'm a bigger fan of quinoa or a bed of fresh greens to keep my Greek chicken bowl of goodness low carb.
Then, the topping. The best part of this is that you can user whatever toppings you like! I like to set out fresh vegetables, brined options like olives and peppers, and tons of sauces like tzatziki, hummus, and pesto. Don't forget the feta cheese!
This easy dinner recipe is sure to be one the whole family will love. Pile them high with your favorite Greek flavors and you have healthy Greek chicken bowls that are perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients for Greek Chicken Bowls
- Greek lemon chicken - I love to marinate chicken breasts and cook them in my air fryer using the recipe from my Greek chicken skewers post, but you can make yours however you like! To use my chicken recipe, you'll need lemon, plain Greek yogurt, olive oil, dried thyme, dried oregano, and lots of garlic.
- Base - For your base you can use white rice, brown rice, quinoa, cauliflower rice or a bed of fresh leafy greens.
- Toppings - There are so many great Greek toppings that this needs its own section on the post. Check out the list below for fresh veggies and more of my favorite toppings!
Check the recipe card below for full quantities and instructions.

- Feta cheese
- Hummus

- Creamy tzatziki

How to Make Greek Chicken Bowls
- Juice and zest one lemon. In a large bowl, combine the chicken marinade ingredients, lemon juice and lemon zest, yogurt, garlic, olive oil, dried oregano, dried thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Add chicken pieces to marinade and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate 2 hours to overnight.
- Slice remaining lemon into small wedges (1 large lemon should yield about 16 small ½ wedges). Thread chicken and lemon wedges onto skewers, being sure the skewers will fit in your air fryer.
- Set air fryer to 350 and arrange skewers in a single layer. Cook 8 minutes. Flip, and cook another 8 minutes.
- While the air fryer is doing its thing, cook your base ingredients like quinoa, rice, or cauliflower rice according to package directions.
- Set out all the toppings your family wants (see the list above for ideas!) in individual bowls so everyone can assemble their own Greek bowls!
Expert Tips
- If layering in a mason jar for meal prep, Be sure to put the wet ingredients like hummus, tzatziki, and diced cucumbers on the bottom and use the chicken to separate them from the ingredients that can get soggy like lettuce.
- Be sure to give your chicken plenty of time to marinate. The longer it sits in the yogurt, the more tender and juicy it will be.
Storage Recommendations
The chicken can be kept in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. I recommend storing all the other components separately and arranging your bowl when you are ready to eat.
For meal preppers, components can be kept in a container or jar with the wet ingredients on the bottom and the dryer ingredients on the top for 3-4 days.

Recipe FAQs
Yes, you can definitely use chicken thighs in this recipe. The chicken thighs will likely stay even more moist and juicy when cooked in the air fryer. The marinade and cooking process will work just as well with chicken thighs.
Definitely! If you don't have an air fryer, you can bake the marinated chicken in the oven. Preheat the oven to 400°F and bake the chicken for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway, until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
These bowls are perfect for meal prepping. Prepare the components separately - the chicken, grains/greens, and toppings. Store them in individual containers or layers in a mason jar. When ready to serve, just assemble the bowl with your desired toppings.
Absolutely! This Greek bowl concept works great with other proteins like grilled shrimp, steak, or even roasted chickpeas for a vegetarian option.
