I watched her make it countless times, but I never asked her how she did it, or why she made it the way she did. She’s gone now, and I hope this post will inspire you to ask your Mamas about their dishes while you can.” After years of failed attempts, we finally figured out the secret of Mama’s macaroni and shared it with our readers.

Honorable Mention Popular Recipes From Years Past

While y’all loved so many recipes from 2018, there are also a few oldies that just keep our readers coming back. Here are our three most popular recipes from the past that are still going strong in 2018.

Smoked Fish Dip is so easy and brings back memories of your beach trip.

    Smoked Fish Dip

Smoked Fish Dip is so easy to make and will bring back memories of your vacations on the coast. All you need is a cold beer and a few crackers to go with this dip. It’s easy to why this one is one of our more popular recipes.

    Shrimp & Grits

One reader said, “I’ve made this recipe twice and my husband claims it’s the best dish we’ve ever eaten.” The rave reviews for our Shrimp & Grits keep rolling in, both from readers who have tried it and from friends and family who eat it in our own home.

Tomato gravy is a southern classic & one of our most popular recipes.

    Tomato Gravy

Tomato Gravy is one that is so simple that it can hardly be called a recipe, but something magical happened when people came across it on Biscuits & Burlap. Memories came flooding back about how their Mamas used to make tomato gravy. They remembered how and when it was served. They told stories of serving it to their own families or made plans to introduce their kids to the traditional dish. I guess it’s plain to see why it became one of our most popular recipes.

    Recipe: Easy Tomato Gravy

At the end of the day, this is always our goal… to remind you of not only the great food and traditions of the South, but of the way food connects people, families, and the past to the future.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for a fantastic 2018. We hope you’ve enjoyed this look at our most popular recipes.
