Air Fryer Home Fries

Whether you enjoy them with breakfast, lunch, or dinner, air fryer home fries are a delicious, crispy side dish you can throw together in just minutes!

Air Fryer Home Fries

Home fries are one of the most versatile side dishes out there. They can literally go with any meal! Serving up a breakfast casserole? Just season them with salt & pepper and they're made for breakfast. Making a steak for dinner? Season them with seasoning salt or steak seasoning and they're perfect there, too.

What makes air fryer home fries special is that by cooking them with an air fryer you get to lighten up the oil without sacrificing crispiness.

Air Fryer Home Fries

When I made my air fryer home fries, I was making them as a side dish for an Italian meal, so naturally I went with Italian seasoning. The ingredients for that are in the recipe card below, but be sure to check out the other suggestions to make them perfect for your meal.

The first step you'll see in the recipe is soaking them in cold, salted water. This might seem like a frivolous step but just trust me... don't skip it! Soaking potatoes for a few minutes is the difference between soggy potatoes and the crispy air fryer home fries we're going for.

What air fryer should I buy?

If you haven't jumped on the air fryer bandwagon yet because you're just not sure you'll use it, take it from us... this is one kitchen gadget you will love having around.

We each have a different type of air fryer and love them both. Mom's is also a small oven, convection oven, broiler and toaster. It’s made by Cuisinart and does take up some counter space, but it has the space to make quite a bit of food at once!

Mine is a small, air fryer only version. It’s perfect when counter space is at a premium because it can easily be stashed away when not in use. Make no mistake though – it works great!

What else can I make with my air fryer?

We are developing new air fryer recipes every day, but here are some of the ones we have so far:

  • Air Fryer Lobster Tails
  • Air Fryer Breaded Shrimp, Southern Style
  • Air Fryer Okra
  • Air Fryer Southern Style Catfish
  • Air Fryer Greek Chicken Skewers with Feta Sauce

What other seasonings are good on home fries?

For a different twist, try these seasoning options instead of the ones above:

  • plain with salt & pepper
  • Creole or Cajun seasoning like Tony Chachere's
  • cumin, chili powder, salt & pepper
  • seasoning salt like Lowry's
  • Montreal Steak seasoning

You could even add some Greek style seasonings and pair them with this Greek Salmon.

For potatoes with a Cajun twist you'll want to try these: Oven Roasted Cajun Potatoes include the "holy trinity" of vegetables otherwise known as celery, peppers and onions.

They would probably be fine, Jim, but we haven't tested with Yukons.
